Habanero was presented with the prestigious award at a gala on November 21 at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in downtown Vancouver.
This is the first time Habanero has been a finalist for the designation. After naming finalists in each region, judges select entrants for the national list. Winners of the national competition can be considered one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies.
The Best Managed Companies award—held by Deloitte in partnership with CIBC, Queen’s Business School, and the National Post—evaluates how organizations align their people, processes, and outcomes with their corporate strategy.
Established in 1993, Canada’s Best Managed Companies is the country’s leading business awards program, recognizing excellence in Canadian-owned and -managed companies with revenues over $10 million. Every year, hundreds of entrepreneurial companies compete for this designation in an in-depth and independent process that evaluates the calibre of their management abilities and practices. Companies, including Habanero, worked with coaches from Deloitte and CIBC throughout the rigorous application process. Participation in the selection process is considered a valuable exercise in evaluating a company’s strategy and business practices in comparison to other Best Managed Companies across Canada.
